Tip of the Week - Spot Color
Spot Color: When you want a great focal point to pull your viewer in!
Using Photoshop Elements 4.0 and higher~
First : Open the file you want to use spot color in.
Then: Duplicate the Background Layer (Ctrl+J) or click on the MORE button in the Layers palette and then choose duplicate layer.
Next: Make sure your background copy is your active layer. And in the MENU BAR click on ENHANCE > ADJUST COLOR > REMOVE COLOR
This will make the active layer GREYSCALE
Now use your ERASER tool with a soft edge brush and erase the grayscale away to reveal the color beneath it!
Using Photoshop CS3 the principal is exactly the same as above. You need to create a duplicate copy of the background layer (Ctrl+J). Make the background copy layer greyscale or black and white. See the past Tip of the Week if you are unsure how to do that.
Now use your ERASER tool with a soft edge brush and erase the grayscale away to reveal the color beneath it!
***NOTE***
Instead of using your ERASER tool lower the layer opacity of the grayscale layer to reveal a small percentage of the color from the original photo!
