Tip of the Week - Remove Color Cast

COLOR CAST

The color cast will work for photos with a color tint or for photos that are too dark.

Using Photoshop Elements (Version 4.0 and higher), first you need to OPEN your photo.

Then in the MENU BAR choose

ENHANCE > ADJUST COLOR > REMOVE COLOR CAST.

From here you will get a dialogue box and your mouse pointer has changed to the eye-dropper tool. With this eye dropper tool you will want to click on an object that is supposed to be pure white, pure black, or 50% (neutral) grey. Your best bet is to click on something that is supposed to be pure white, as it will give you the best results.

ColorCast

Using Photoshop CS3, you can achieve this by opening your file and going to IMAGE > ADJUSTMENTS > CURVES.  Once in the Curves dialog box, you will see three eye dropper tools.  Choose the white dropper and follow the directions as above by clicking on an area that is supposed to be white.
