Passing the Buck…

March 17, 2010 By: Jessica Category: Uncategorized 1 Comment →

One of the many blogs I follow is Jessica Sprague. She’s a digital scrapbook extraordinaire and entrepreneur who has many resources on her site. I haven’t really taken advantage of all her site has to offer but I have enjoyed glimpsing the really creative scrapbook pages I have seen on her site. I especially love the mixed medium projects that she highlights on Thursdays. For some reason I am a sucker for mixed mediums.

On Wednesdays she offers one of the products in her store for $1. Today I really thought it was cute and wanted to share it with you. It is a vintage camera kit by designer Danielle Thompson. Adorable, huh?

So for a $1 I decided to purchase that kit. This is actually the very first kit I have ever purchased. All the other kits I have were ones that I found for free. I couldn’t pass up this vintage camera cuteness and wanted to pass on the info in case anyone else has a penchant for this same thing.

52 Weeks; Week 4

March 01, 2010 By: Jessica Category: 52 Week Project No Comments →

Is this getting harder or is it just me? I keep forgetting to take pictures until Saturday. It really is a reminder that I need to get my camera out more regularly. Even though we’re spending most of our time indoors that is no excuse!!!

Here is my Week 4 page for this 52 Week project. My boys were helping me with a job of cleaning dead leaves off our deck. It was pretty funny. My youngest was buck naked (we’re in the middle of potty training and this seems to work for him) but he grabbed my husband’s size 13 running shoes and a broom. It was so funny I couldn’t resist snapping a bunch of shots. My oldest had the snow shovel and my middle son was also using a broom but he we more interested in pretending he was flying on it rather than helping with the leaves. Classic family photo op!

If you are also working on a 52 week project and want to use the little 52 week graphic, feel free. You can share yours here with this Mr.Linky thingamabob.

Digital Scrapbooking Secret Weapon..

October 22, 2008 By: Jessica Category: Cool Stuff 6 Comments →

Do you want to learn how to scrapbook your photos using your computer?  You can do pretty much everything digitally that you can with paper and even more.  I love to use the techniques I have learned to make baby book pages for my kids, birthday invitations, calendars, thank you cards, etc.  I have used them to make our color book and ABC book too.  There are so many cool things you can do once you learn the basics.

We at Momshots have a secret weapon: Our one and only, Tip of the Week editor, Tye Durbin!!!  She can teach us how to do all those cool things.  She wants to teach us how to do all these cool things!  Yeah, basically she’s awesome.

The situation here is that she needs your suggestions.  What do you want to learn?  She is taking all the suggestions, questions and comments and putting them into tutorial form and making a disc out of them.  So if you are curious as to how to make something special let her know.  You can let her know by either posting a comment at the end of this post, using the Contact page or emailing me; momshots at yahoo dot com.

Admittedly I have much to learn in this area but I do think it is very important to document my children’s lives.  Here is an example of one of the pages I have made.  I am a little embarrassed to share this with you but I will throw caution to the wind and do it anyway.  We’re all friends here, right?

The Boys copy

Come on!  You know you want to know how to make little brads or gel dots.  Just ask!  She’ll tell you how and you’ll get a disc not only with your questions but everyone else’s too!

Digital Scrapbooking Techniques

Tye Durbin, our illustrious Tip of the Week author, is offering a really great opportunity to learn some digital scrapbooking skills.  Tye says:

For any of you Digital Scrapbookers out there, I am currently working on an extra’s disk for my Scrapbooking class this fall, and if you have any suggestions on what you’d like to see for content on a CD let me know! If I use your ideas/suggestions (i.e. type of custom brushes, patters for papers, embellishments etc…), I will mail you a free copy of the CD so PLEASE make sure you leave me your email!

You can leave comments here or on her site.  This is a great opportunity to learn some amazing skills and fun ways to do something new and creative with your photos.  If you haven’t tried digital scrapbooking yet, there are many applications for the skills involved, other than just putting together a fancy photo album.  I highly encourage you to think about any questions you have or specific things you’d like to learn and let Tye know.
