Photographic Coincidence…
I just heard about a list of crazy coincidences. Once of them is of particular interest to me and Momshots. Here is the story…
A German mother who photographed her infant son in 1914 left the film to be developed at a store in Strasbourg. In those days some film plates were sold individually. World War I broke out and unable to return to Strasbourg, the woman gave up the picture for lost. Two years later she bought a film plate in Frankfurt, over 100 miles away, to take a picture of her newborn daughter. When developed the film turned out to be a double exposure, with the picture of her daughter superimposed on the earlier picture of her son. Through some incredible twist of fate, her original film, never developed, had been mislabeled as unused, and had eventually been resold to her.
I can’t find any substantiating proof or information, but it is kind of interesting. It also makes me think about how photography has evolved and I am so happy that I can use a digital medium instead of light sensitive plates!

Love the one of Uly. It looks black and whitish. The colors are subdued and it takes on an old school feel. Way cool.
The one below with the girl whizzing has a lot of neat stuff happening. It could be on the cover of a gift card at World Market or something. The bricks and the boat totally give this shot a “down-home” feel reminiscent of the good ol’ days where parents fuss less and (caring not of their kids run around in their b-day suits)and the pace is slowed. I adore that you cannot see the girl’s face. At a glance, you would think it is a boy as they are the ones blessed with the anatomy to whizz free standing–no prob. This lil’ kid knows what’s up. I say, You Go…Country bumpkin’Girl!! (Is this Kora, by chance?) Gar’s face is so appropriately unconcerned which makes this shot so much sweeter.
I like the placement of the top shot with mine and your kids…if only they were all facing you to where we could see their faces; that’d be perfect.
Good stuff Jess. I am so glad for you and this outlet. You are doing gr8.
Visiting was super nice. We love you guys!
