Is anybody out there???
I’m feeling a little down today. I’m a big baby. I hate writing about negative things but at the same time they have to be said sometimes.
My question is this: Does anyone read this blog?
That’s my question. One little tiny one. I don’t seem to have any followers but at the same time my analytics say people do stop by on a regular basis. I’m not sure what to believe. I do know that I only rarely get a comment. Those are usually from my mother. Thanks mom.
Maybe I need to get back to basics and refocus on the things us regular mom’s need to know about taking better photos of our kids. Probably. Good thing it is the time for new resolutions.
Anyone have anything that they are wondering about? Anyone wonder how someone did something in a photograph? Anyone have questions about things they want to learn about?
I resolve to make a list of new topics for 2009 and learn about them all.
Ok… whining done. Please leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.
Before you leave here is a virtual helping of really yummy peppermint bark. Help yourselves and have a happy new year.

I read you in my reader and as a general rule, I suck at LEAVING the reader to comment. To anyone.
I have been meaning to come here and comment you to tell you that I have not forgotten about the Pay It Forward I won on your blog (the camera strap cover that I LOVE)! I just haven’t had time to do my end of the deal!
My “resolution” for the new year is to get better at commenting
Feel free to hold me accountable

I just found your site. I am just learning to work with dslr & PSE. Looks like a place I can learn from!

I love reading your blog. I am still learning to use my camera as well and I love to read your about your insights and your struggles; and I enjoy viewing your photos. Keep up the great work.

I read you on a reader and I’m too lazy to click to comment.

I try to comment sometimes because I like getting comments myself. I never really commented much before I had a blog of my own and realized how nice it was to get feedback and not feel like you are just sending words words and photos into cyberspace. I read your blog (now on my google reader) and my baby reads it, too (while sitting on my lap.) I think you have a great site.

I read Momshots regularly. I never leave a comment about photography because I’m not allowed to pick up a camera, so I don’t really understand anything you are talking about. However, I love the pictures of your children. They are so adorable, I just have to visit this site to see their pictures. And I’m not just saying that, they really are adorable children. Really. I mean it. Why, I think they are so cute, I could take them home with me. I’m not a weirdo or anything. Honest. I’m not. Really. Right, Jessica, you know I’m really nice. Right?

I’m another Google Reader reader ;).
I’ve been a little busy as of late with new baby and all, but I’m planning to be a more active reader soon because I finally am getting a DSLR! It was my Christmas gift and I ordered it earlier today - can’t wait for it to get here!
I will let you know of any questions that crop up as I begin playing.

Sorry you have been feeling down! I have a link to you on my blog and check you out every time you update! I enjoy reading your posts but I’m not a great commenter. I go to church out here in Colorado with Alicia. She hooked me up with you. I have a special interest in learning to photograph children with special needs. My youngest has Down Syndrome and I’ve been able to photograph an autistic boy with his brothers. I would love to photograph Cora if Alicia and I ever get our schedules synched up!! Thank you for your fantastic inspiration and help! Hugs!!

I read every post you do! I am by far the least camera smart person you have ever met so I make sure I read what you write and try to put into practice what I can. I don’t have a fancy camera but I would love to get into photography.
My question would be, can you do a post on what is a good camera for a really novice photographer. I don’t understand all the different settings my camera has and it doesn’t have any of those fancy lenses but I would really like to get something and learn about it. Do you have any suggestions for a beginner?
Love your blog Jess, don’t worry, it’s getting read and loved it’s just that we all stink about leaving comments…sorry. : (

Thanks for all your hard work!

I too am a Google Reader reader, but I do try to comment on most posts :D. I am not only a contributor, I am a devoted fan/friend! (with all of the (4 ft.) snow and CHAOS (kids with cabin fever, because of horrid wind chill) I just got the CD’s out this morning)
IF ANYONE RECEIVING A CD READS THIS COMMENT!!! I WANT TO KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE CD (after you read the READ-ME file)! I want to know what you liked, didn’t like, want on a future CD etc.
Jess, I love, love, love your site!

I read you. I think you have some great tips for budding hobbyists. Keep ‘em coming.
I hardly ever get comments on my blog either. Not even from my mom, so you are one step ahead of me.

I’m with them…I usually read you from my reader! But I do like to come over and comment also!
Don’t give up I REALLY REALLY like your site!
I’ve learned quite a bit from it!

I check in from time to time! I just had a crazy busy holiday photo season and things are finally calming down (and we are almost over the sickies here too) so I should be checking in more often in January!

I don’t even own my own camera and I love your site. Keep up the good work.
I am hoping to get Jessica on here soon too, I think she has a real eye for Photography.

Jessica, I’m sorry I didn’t see this post until today and like you, I often felt this way in the beginning when I was first blogging.
My site is a bunch of fluff anyway and I don’t even know why people visit it. But it feels good to write it and to load my photographs onto it. I don’t come here as much as I should because I don’t have small children or grandchildren and I feel like your site is geared more towards that. I mean, it is called MOM shots!! I still enjoy coming and seeing what you’re doing. And occasionally, I don’t leave a comment.
Sorry for that rudeness.
Here’s to a new year. Blog for yourself. You are what matters. You, your family and your life. Cheers, Jessica!

Yah! You go girl! You are an inspiration to us would-be photographers AND bloggers. Besides it’s fun to watch you grow! (Love, Mom)

I read your blog all the time and I really enjoy it, plus I have learned a lot too! I’ve been terrible at leaving comments though, I will do better. Don’t give up!

Love your site! I feel the same way, I get like 200 hits and maybe 6 comments
(unless it’s a giveaway!) Keep it up!

I love your site! You have motivated me and inspired me to get into photography. My husband just bought me a zoom lens for my nikon D40. I admit I have no clue really how to properly use my camera and lens but I am looking forward to learning from this site. I love to read about how to take pictures - I just haven’t actually done it…lol…..I have a 8 month old son who is the cutest thing on the planet and will use your site very often to learn techniques! Thanks so much!

I love your site and I am a regular reader. I know how you feel about feeling like you are talking to yourself. I struggle with those same feelings about my blog. I know I have readers, they just don’t comment much and sometimes it just hurts. I just wanted to let you know that I always read, and I’ll try to leave more comments!

Jess…..
I read every word….just not in a timely fashion I usually have to play catch up…I love it….
